YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Although it has yet to pop up in the MLS, according to digital evidence that found its way into Your Mama's inbox, Tinseltown scion and actress Joely Fisher and her lantern-jawed cinematographer husband, Christopher Duddy, put their Sherman Oaks mansion on the market with an asking price of $4,195,000.
Although Miz Fisher is an honest-to-goodness Hollywood royal—her parents are the late singer Eddie Fisher and the still kicking Showbiz sexpot turned skin care tycoon Connie Stevens—was named Miss Golden Globe* in 1992 and was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1998 for her role on Ellen DeGeneres's eponymous sitcom Ellen, she's never quite made it to the top of the Tinseltown heap.* None the less she's appeared in a number of movies (The Mask, Inspector Gadget), bevy of television programs (Grosse Pointe, Danny, Desperate Housewives, 'Til Death), and her resume on the Internet Movie Data Base shows she's the star of not yet released thriller (Fatal Acquittal) and will have a small part in an upcoming comedy (Killing Winston Jones) with Richard Dreyfuss, Danny Masterson and Danny Glover.
Property records show the Fisher-Duddys acquired their ochre-hued Sherman Oaks residence in July 2007 for $3.5 million and Your Mama found evidence online that a couple years ago the couple ran afoul of their mortgage lender who initiated foreclosure actions in 2011. Indeed, the property was scheduled to be auctioned in September 2011 but we're happy to report that financial nastiness all seems to have been cleared up. Anyhoo...
Current listing details show the spacious if architecturally suspicious mock-Med macmansion was built in 2006 on a half acre parcel conveniently located just a couple short blocks from the myriad of shops and restaurants that line busy Ventura Boulevard. There are 7 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, as per listing details, in 9,830 square feet.**
The bulky, two-story house includes a de rigueur for the 'hood double-height foyer with tile floors and hand-forged wrought iron stair railings. There's an super-sized formal dining room for holidays and dinner parties plus less-formal family quarters that include a cook-friendly kitchen, an adjoining breakfast room, and a Great Room that opens to living room-sized loggia—listing details describe it as a "magical covered lounge"—that overlooks the swimming pool and backyard. Somewhere, as per listing details, there's a media room.
Beyond the loggia and swimming pool there's a trellis-shaded terrace and a flat patch of grass that extends back towards a matching, detached structure with two-car garage and a self-contained three-room guest house with full kitchen.
We haven't a clue as to the Fisher-Duddy's future real estate plans but surely the children recall that Missus Fisher-Duddy's mother listed her mulit-acre compound in the hoity-toity Holmby Hills are of Los Angeles on the open market in late 2012 with an asking price of almost $18 million. Alas, despite the swanky nabe's high-profile residents and traditionally high-priced desirability—nearby estates are owned by Kelsey Grammer, nonagenarian socialite Besty Bloomingdale, and contemporary art peddler Larry Gagosian—there were no serious takers and the multi-residence estate, which includes a Paul Williams-designed white brick Colonial style main house, was taken off the open market in late summer the following year (2013).
*Miss Golden Globe is an "honor" bestowed each year by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to the progeny of a celebrity. Recent "honorees," who hand out the statuettes and direct winners off-stage during the televised ceremonies include Sosie Bacon (daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick), Sam Michael Fox (son of Michael J. Fox and Tracey Pollan), and Francesca Eastwood (daughter of Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher).
**The Los Angeles County Tax Man shows the Fisher-Duddy's house measures 7,807 square feet. Your Mama assumes without any direct knowledge that the additional 2,000 or so square feet is accounted for in the guest house.
